Pico Island is mingle-mangle of different landscapes and offers a vast variety of things to do and to see.
While our island is always a unique destination, wildlife and weather follows it’s course throughout the year. To learn about the different seasons on Pico have a look at our Seasons Guide.
The Azores and especially our Island Pico and its surrounding waters are still a quiet hiding place, far away from the spinning wheels of mainland life. Altogether, time goes by a bit different on Pico.
Land based there are heaps of hiking trails to be discovered, peaking with a climb to the summit – the highest point of Portugal and within the Atlantic Ocean. Vinery, whaling and volcanic activities define the history and culture of Pico island and there are plenty of museums documenting the past.
Water based activities range from whale watching and swimming with dolphins to diving, kayaking and snorkeling. Throughout the year more than 24 different species of whales and dolphins pass our waters. During the summer months Pico is the world‘s number one location to dive with mobula rays and blue sharks.
